12/22/22 - the work is neverending. pokemon is fun tho

dear reader,

sorry its been like a month since last entry. i am so so busy all time. kms.

um one thing that happened was my birthday! yay!!!!!! it was v fun i got a new backpack and a lego bulbasaur and pokemon scarlet and a power strip and some other stuff. also for my birthday i got to go to a they might be giants concert with my friends!! yipeee!! it was soso fun. fav concert ive ever been to. lovely. istanbul live went crazy.

i also got deferred from both of the colleges i applied to early decision/early action!! yipeee again!! obv not as good as an acceptance, but since theyre both (basically) ivy leagues i expected to get rejected so this is great lol. expect for the fact i now have had to do so so many college apps

speaking of that. the main reason i havent been v active even tho im on winter break is ive had soooo many college apps to do. worst activity in the whole world. kms again. the past 2-3 days its been like. the Only thing ive done. im now taking a break til the 27th for xmas, but literally its been all day every day recently.

key part of that is only during the day. the nights ive been available to watch tv (been getting rly into elementary (on s3) and star trek tos (s1) recently, x-files is also on my to-watch list), play pokemon scarlet (extremely fun. i love giving my guys terrible names. for example my mankey pissboy my psyduck bingles and my crocalor steven), play minecraft, and do lots and lots of crafts. ive been getting into diy bookbinding recently. because of course i needed yet another hobby.

in conclusion. i have so so many things to do because god hates me but i am still making time for 247543 hobbies and whatnot. anyways happy holidays. etc etc love u all

11/29/22 - kirby's thanksgiving break movie ranking. and other things

dear reader,

hi! sorry it’s been a bit since a proper journal entry. i’ve had a decent amount going on lol. and i’m also just lazy about these entries.

today was my first day back from thanksgiving break, which kind of sucks, but break was fun! i got to see my sister, and i played a lot of mariokart (i main rosalina. cause obviously) and watched a Lot of movies.

ok not that many movies. but i watched an above average amount of movies. which means you get a ranking of every movie i watched over break.

1. philadelphia (1993):
   • um so this movie makes me insane every time i rewatch it. first of all . a bit of a niche pick sorry to be somewhat pretentious but like fucking hell. if you have not seen this movie. go watch it.
   • it’s about a philadelphia lawyer (tom hanks) who gets fired from his job for being gay and having AIDS and decides to sue, hiring joe miller (denzel washington), who, while initially being homophobic, is the only lawyer willing to take his case.
   • this movie simultaneously shatters my fucking heart and also is like so so full of love. and its also a legal drama (which, if you couldn’t tell by the next one, i love).
2. the trial of the chicago 7 (2020):
   • so like. absolutely nerd pick. sorry. but this is the nerd website for nerds so here. also this was also a rewatch
   • um historical legal drama abt 8 anti-vietnam war protesters (the “chicago 7” + bobby seale) charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with intent to cause riots. interestingly, talks a lot about the conflict between the defendants, and between factions of the new left.
   • while its got some issues probably (idk i just assume) i um fucking love this movie. i think its very fascinating . and i love a legal drama
3. knives out (2019):
   • so i actually didnt get around to watching this movie until After i watched glass onion, but uh. movie fucked. there’s not actually that much to say. movie fucked. slapped. benoit blanc #1 gay old man.
   • idk anyone who doesnt know this movie so uh look it up
4. glass onion (2022):
   • saw this in theaters! the knives out sequel(ish). i rly liked this! i dont have much to say, and this journal entry’s gonna end up really long lol. i didnt like it as much as knives out, and it doesnt enter my fav ever movies list, but it was fun!
5. the imitation game (2014):
   • ok so . i hate benedict cumberbatch as much as the next person. but oh boy does this movie make me insane (this was also a rewatch). this is the alan turing movie btw. sorry.
   • as u can see. i love historical dramas. anyways
6. werewolf by night (2022):
   • sorry. marvel :( . this doesnt even technically count as a movie i think.
   • um i liked this!! new pathetic man of the month. it was fun. it was kind of bad (suspense didnt feel that well done and the pacing felt off) but it was fun! i had a fun time!

anyways. in other news of my life. im going to shave my head!!!! yay fun! gonna wait a few more weeks so its not too much of an impulsive decision but yay! sexy gender !

i am also sooooo happy its basically december now. a) birthday month !!!! b) college decision results. finally pls give them to meeeee c) properly winter !!! d) christmas ! e) winter break woooo!! f) im seeing they might be giants soon !!!!

i would do the same music section as last normal entry but uh. its all ocean eyes owl city. and im starting to listen to grimes (sorry).

11/20/22 - self-recognition

dear reader,

i want you to imagine a house with no mirrors. no mirrors at all. no reflections, even. i want you to imagine you are born in this house, and live there all your life. all your life, no reflections. not one.

here is the question: in a house with no mirrors, what is beauty? for a vampire of myth, free from self-image, is there beauty? there is desire, of course, and there is the beauty of light and apples in fall and similar wonders. but you, dweller in this house, do you ever think about the curves of your face? perhaps more importantly - do you ever think about anyone else's? if you lived your life without ever knowing what you look like from the outside, does it even matter?

say you are a vampire, absent of reflection for all your centuries. or say, one day, you leave this house. one day, you find a wizard, or a witch, or a genie of some kind. she offers you a gift– your reflection. you could see it.

after long last, you could learn. the knowledge stands before you, waiting, sitting heavy in the air. you could see it, but there is no forgetting, after agreement.

so- do you accept? is the offer a remedy to your curse, or is ignorance- this ignorance- bliss?

this is not a philosophy. this is not a political statement. this is a question.

i only have one request for you, dear reader. consider the vampire's choice.

11/18/22 - writer's block, hair dye, & carly rae jepsen

dear reader,

hello! how are you?

simultaneously not much going on today and 6000 things going on all the time lmao. today’s friday, which was nice, and i don’t have much schoolwork to do right now because of thanksgiving and whatnot. on the other hand, the college admissions process means the work is unceasing. kms. whatever. and i need to do more writing for my creative writing independent study class and im feeling stuck on that lol. maybe ill write some fic as a warm up next time.

neocities has pretty much been consuming all my free time lol. this is so fun! i am gonna try and work in less concentrated bursts so i don’t run out of steam, but even if i take a break from this i think i’ll come back pretty quickly.

tomorrow i get to hang out with my friend!! which is v fun i feel like we havent hung out outside of school in a bit. but we’re gonna get boba and then theyre gonna put toner in my hair since shes mad my dyed blonde hair is always uneven colors lmaoo. so exciting!

in other news, here’s what i’ve been listening to recently.

1. carly rae jepsen - literally queen of everything. i know obviously we all know her classics but ive been properly getting into her music lately and literally. nobody is doing it like her. the earnestness! the love ! etc etc ! love it. love her. fav songs: this kiss, beach house, tiny little bows
2. les miserables - ok complete 180 from the previous point but i saw a production of les mis recently and it turned me insane. whoops! but ive been listening to it a lot. its literally so good guys. such a fantastic piece of art. god. fav songs: at the end of the day, empty chairs at empty tables, one day more
3. fall out boy - this isnt new or anything. ive just been listening to a lot of fall out boy recently. band of all time etc etc. i think somebody needs to make a fob jukebox musical. but whatever. um taylor swift was the realest person ever when she said pete wentz was one of her fav lyricists of all time. literally im insane. fav songs: hum hallelujah, a little less sixteen candles (…), homesick at space camp
